Years Ago

Years ago; I lost the love of my wife;
a cancer took her back home;
leaving me no one to share my life;
without love; and all alone.

We started a business; laid foundations;
with dreams of a future ahead;
losing it; from unforeseen complications;
the love of my life is now dead.

We lost the new house of our dream;
a bankruptcy took it away;
the greed of a partner; unforeseen;
we were corruption’s prey.

Starting all over; at a retirement age;
there seemed, no place to go;
the book of life, turned its last page;
all we could do, was to grow.

With yesterday gone; we looked ahead;
our future appeared very bleak;
in a few years; we both might be dead;
our planning, need be unique.

Sharing our story; destiny was beckoning;
our resources; nearly gone;
perhaps we were facing a final reckoning;
challenged to just carry on.

When my wife died; I was left all alone;
an old man trudging through snow;
waiting for the day God called me home;
destiny planned it; years ago.
