A Tribute To A Small Town Icon
There once was an icon in the middle of a town;
Mangas Cafateria was its name;
over the years; it became a restaurant of renoun;
deserving of its burgeoning fame.
An ordinary cuisene, served hot and nutricious;
on Sundays, always drawing a crowd;

At a special time; in the midst of the day;
fatigue, often, rears its ugly head;
our consciousness experiences a life delay;
we doze off to sleep as tho dead.
Suddenly consciousness turned the lights out;
as tho we failed to pay the light bill;

As a child I played on the playground at recess;
a welcome break from learning time;
a teeter-totter provided a respite from stress;
an experience, most sublime.
It seemed a curious device; on which we played;

a life where we’re safe and warm;

It seems many are obsessed with games;
they come in all shapes and sizes;
the game of life; just one of its names;
they all wear many disguises.
Games, to some, become an obsession;
and life is pretty much the same;
failure in either; can lead

I am the winds; and ocean wave;
washing upon life’s shore;
with thoughts of a love, I crave;
and feelings, from before.
I’m on the outside; looking in;
surely someone’s there;
I know not where I should begin;
