Creating Happiness
Happiness is the energy of love;
a gift that each is given;
handed down from God, above;
a hint, we can be forgiven.
Happiness is given to be shared;
it’s not a gift for a miser;
witnessing that God still cared;
a sign of growing wiser.
We can create it; with a smile;
or by making others laugh;
in others’ shoes; walk a mile;
or take a baby’s photograph.
Happiness is an energy we choose;
it rarely happens by chance;
while others dwell in the blues;
happiness chooses to dance.
We can create it; with a good word;
or else; by telling a joke;
happiness comes; with passions stirred;
especially by ordinary folk.
Many people have their own funny bone;
laughing at most everything;
other people are happy; when all alone;
thinking they won the brass ring.
Many are happy; when others are sad;
especially, in the holiday season;
the Master rejoices when all are glad;
happiness is the voice of reason;
