A Thorn On The Rose
Love was the rose in God’s garden;
known, as the creation of life;
love could melt all hearts; that harden;
by marriage of a man and wife;
The bloom on the rose was perfection;
its aroma, exceeded, by its beauty;
the thorn became the rose’s protection;
defending love, was its duty.
The thorn represents death and birth;
both, of which, cause pain;
the rose; an image of love and worth;
love turns loss into gain.
The thorn became the serpent’s tool;
as the world held its breath;
rejecting God’s love; the act of a fool;
rejecting God leads to death.
The rose is the epitome of eternal love;
the queen of the Master’s garden;
its beauty rains down from heaven above;
such love, requires no pardon.
Symbolic of the Father’s master plan;
marriage bonds two into one;
much like the bond of God and man;
and also, of Father and Son.
Every life is destined to feel pain;
without it; no one grows;
death always brings about change;
the serpent is a thorn on the rose.
