I Feel Cheated
Often, I feel I’ve been cheated in life;
in all; that I’ve had to face;
rivers of sadness; heartbreaks, and strife;
so much; I’d like to erase.
It seems, I’ve hurt, the ones, I loved most;
though such, was never my intention;
most of my life, seems like burnt toast;
without even a scent of redemption.
I was given many gifts; but little success;
my efforts; ultimately, defeated;
I was playing checkers; evil played chess;
leaving me to feel cheated.
In life; all must learn to accept defeat;
failure is the prelude to success;
earth is where angels and demons meet;
we all must expect duress.
Although I most often, feel defeated;
I know there’s purpose in pain;
God only gives, whatever is needed;
and, every loss leads to gain.
Still, I can’t help, feeling deeply hurt;
tho I understand purpose;
pain brings change; none can avert;
life is all about service.
Though, I feel I’ve been cheated in life;
I continue to trust in God, above;
rivers of sadness; heartbreaks, and strife;
all, are the foundations for love.
