A God Called Insurance
Many pray to gods of silver or gold;
because of what they can buy;
for enough silver; a soul can be sold;
without someone asking why.
Every life has its own ebb and flow;
much is learned from endurance;
in search of how to live and grow;
we pray to the God of insurance.
Insurance is a god who pays for loss;
whatever that loss might be;
with our tithe; he covers all costs;
making it seem to be free.
Tithe or premium; it’s all the same;
it’s all a matter of cost;
money, up front; pays without blame;
nothing is gained or lost.
A husband or wife; wants self assurance;
what if their spouse suddenly dies;
life can go on; through life insurance;
income was lost by surprise.
Now we buy insurance for everything;
more recently, for car repair;
you can insure health or a diamond ring;
or anything else that’s there.
Insurance is a bet on future loss;
it’s a modern form of lottery;
all want others to pay their costs;
but, nothing in life is free.
