My Forbidden Fruit

I think of her, daily; and dream, at night;
such thoughts, are constant streams;
in my thoughts; she’s the light of my life;
the beautiful woman of my dreams.

My dreams of her are completely moot;
her heart belongs to another;
she has become my forbidden fruit;
she can never become my lover.

She cannot begin to know how I feel;
I can’t understand it, myself;
my feelings have become surreal;
to her, I’m a book on the shelf

Although she knows who I am;
that’s where my story ends;
to her; I am just another man;
never to be more than friends.

Loneliness makes fools of us all;
sadness; enhanced; when alone;
false pride, precedes every fall;
without love; there’s no home.

Lonely dreams of what used to be;
of the loves; that I once had;
unable to cope with the new reality;
it’s enough to drive one mad.

I think of her, daily; and dream, at night;
such thoughts, are constant streams;
in my thoughts; she’s the light of my life;
the beautiful woman of my dreams.
