The Hereafter

What happens when we finally die;
after, living happily ever after;
is there a place on which all rely;
a place we call the hereafter?

Is death a place of sweet release;
do we go to another place;
a grand kingdom of lasting peace;
a permanent realm of grace?

Or is death merely a change of venue;
depending upon past behavior;
is there simply another life menu;
at the behest of our savior?

Have we, long ago, been here before;
at the judgment of our contrition;
and now, find ourselves, once more;
hovering near the door of perdition?

Could this be a realm of permanence;
where only the Master’s love is king;
is death the great celestial firmament;
the final rest of each living thing?

Each life, meekly cries out for answers;
daring to question our Master and Lord;
is death a great river of flowing cancers;
where the evil one, is slain by the sword?

Perhaps, it establishes the new firmament;
the new re-creation from God, above;
making all things new; and permanent;
a coming together in a kingdom of love.
