The Glass Filled With Life
There’re those who say their glass is half full;
saying it, quite proudly; you can tell;
much of their eyes are covered with wool;
by definition; it’s half empty, as well.
Our gift called life; a glass of champagne;
a blessing so far beyond measure;
a breath of fresh air; stepping out in the rain;
a boundless, never ending treasure.
When we drink this elixer from life’s cup;
it makes our throat tickle; gives us a thrill;
along with life’s feast; we’re given to sup;
it deeply satisfies; and most always will.
Many are the times, we gulp it on down;
when our glass is emptied; complain;
the Master refills it; without even a frown;
and we retire; smug with disdain.
Sometimes we think that life is too tough;
but still sip the love from its brew;
it seems that we never get quite enough;
for that one sip will seldom do.
Though we demand the best champagne;
that may not be one that we need;
this life is about those lessons we’ve gained;
not about if we fail, or succeed.
Remember each time you drink and sup;
throughout your life; in every endeavor;
the life we drink from the Master’s cup;
is designed to last us forever.
