The Darkest Days
Many hope their life is a walk in the park;
that everything will turn out all right;
in the fullness of time; this world becomes dark;
and we dwell in a never ending night.
Most of us can cope with most anything;
with someone, by our side,

How can a house feel so incredibly empty;
overflowing with ghosts of the past;
no longer the place; I still long to be;
why is it, that peace can’t last?
I feel so useless in a world so austere;
separated from heaven above;

The Truth Of Faith
When Young, I was taught to seek truth;
it was beyond what I could conceive;
it was difficult to find convincing proof;
I had to gain faith, to believe.
Truth was considered definitive and reliable;
but many were unwilling to relate;
that there was a God;

last night, in the midst of sleep;
thought took me, where I needed to be;
reality took a quantum leap.
I leaped off the pages of my book of life;
and onto the pages of another;

A young man asked, “What color is the sky?”
It seemed as tho he was giving me a test.
I surveyed my thoughts, before giving reply;
lest his question be merely a jest.
I answered him: “The sky is completely colorless!”

What causes feelings of compassion and empathy;
where, from within, do they seem to arise;
especially when, for enemies, you have sympathy;
much to your heartfelt surprise?
Sympathy is feeling sadness over one’s situation;
true compassion, from higher natures, come;

When I was young there existed civility;
where people tried to get along together;
in general there was peace and tranquility;
but now; it all seems gone, forever.
Life was good; people helped neighbors;
till corruption and greed flowed in;
poisons in life; come in many

Metaphors are reality; pictures of thought;
one thought corresponding to another;
from an upper world to a lower one brought;
the illusion becomes thought’s brother.
A living example of each life is the rose;
it’s planted; blossoms; then dies;
