Silence Is Not Golden

Often we say things without much thought;
and yet we think they’re the truth;
believing that they represent what ought;
ignoring the obvious proof;

“Silence is golden.” Or, so we often say;
not understanding, what it means;
sound is a part of the beauty of today;
life isn’t at all what it seems.

Tho we find music, pleasing to the ears;
many, in silence, often dwell;
although some sounds usher in tears;
a silent kingdom is hell.

Sound is part of the magnificence of life;
within its orchestra we dwell;
communications between husband and wife;
without them; we’re an empty shell.

There’s no rustling of leaves; without sound;
we’ll miss hearing the birds sing;
we won’t even know they’re no longer around;
for, we won’t hear them take wing.

Sound gives us warning of things to come;
thunder proclaims a coming storm;
creating sound like the beating of a drum;
sound serves to inform.

Sound is the highlight in life’s endless mural;
sight and sound are two peas in a pod;
sound is the exclamation of thoughts, subdural;
without it; none can praise God.
