We’ve heard the calm before the storm;
peace that surpasses understanding;
in good conscience, I must forewarn;
even in peace, life’s demanding.
Though storms in life, come and go;
they never stay gone for long.
Through them all, we seem to grow;
and that’s why all storms belong.
We think that it’s peace that we seek;
it’s just one of life’s illusions;
true peace doesn’t come at life’s peak;
but only at life’s conclusions.
Perhaps, it’s really death that we seek;
the chance to move on to infinity;
but death isn’t an answer for the meek;
they wish to escape through divinity.
Wisdom grants deeper understanding;
insights into the Master’s plan;
the soul requires constant expanding;
to return, to where life began.
We expect life to be calm and serene;
when all of its storms are past;
but, that’s not the landscape; the scene;
for peace isn’t destined to last.
Serenity is mastery by the man;
in the very midst of the storm;
for, twas in a tempest that all began;
and where life, itself, was born.
