Beggars

We live in a world of growing entitlement;
many seeking alms from above;
all the while; there’s a growth of enlightenment;
while the lonely search for love.

Many are those who seek to become rich;
how can we be; what we can’t define;
others fraudulantly employ bait and switch;
poverty is sometimes wealth sublime.

Gold is wealth which no one can ever own;
no matter how stubbornly we try;
it is God’s image of wealth, on loan;
it passes on when we die.

Many people claim to be wealthy and wise;
the truth is that they are neither;
we’re all beggars; in the Master’s eyes;
to God; each is a believer.

The poor in spirit, are truly the rich;
their riches are in heaven above;
faith is the eternal bait and switch;
home is the kingdom of love.

Planted as seeds in the garden of birth;
beggars aligned with the serpents;
all were cast down to the world of earth;
beggars were born to be servants.

The arrogant and proud soon will fall;
only God can assess one’s worth.
Judgement is reserved to the Lord of All;
and beggars will inherit the earth.
