My Bittersweet Love
Love came like a wave; a gentle wind;
catching me, suddenly, by surprise;
when in her presence; all sorrows end;
I felt love; coming from her eyes.
Sometimes, two souls are meant to be one;
other times; it’s not meant to be;
within her eyes; became the setting sun;
though she had no eyes for me.
I felt love and despair; in the same breath;
it seemed she was sent from above;
for a brief season; she was life and death;
such was my bittersweet love.
She’ll never know the love, she gave me;
it was a passion; unlike any other;
in death’s valley; only love can save me;
to her; I was more like a brother.
Sometimes, circumstance brings us together;
but, only for a moment in time;
though, in my mind, I will love her forever;
her thoughts of me; less divine.
We are now more, than a generation apart;
in feelings of love; I’m a beginner;
deep in my soul; I’m in love with her heart;
but, she is Summer; and I am Winter;
Often, destiny is cruel and bittersweet;
when guiding us from above;
for, it seemed like destiny; that we meet;
me and my bittersweet love.
