In The Shadow Of Me

I am a mere shadow of who I was;
a foretaste of who I shall be;
I’ve become diminished, because;
I’m living in the shadow of me.

I was created in the darkness of night;
in perfection; I was to become;
I was the love; created by the Light;
the Father and I were One.

I was the prodigal who chose to rebel;
banished from my home of birth;
threatened to be sent to the gates of hell;
temporarily imprisoned on earth.

On earth, I continued my wayward path;
the weed in the Master’s garden;
only God’s love, would overtake His wrath;
and, only in death, grant my pardon.

In life, I am still just the shadow of me;
my body, becoming an empty shell;
I’m not what the Father expects me to be;
I am still just deserving of hell.

The Master came down; my soul to save;
taking my place in the tomb;
I wasn’t created to inhabit a grave.
So the grave became a womb.

Only God knows what’s meant to be;
I’m waiting to be made brand new.
Today, I live in the shadow of me;
and you live in the shadow of you.
