Garbage In; Garbage Out
We spend a lifetime collecting our trash;
although we don’t even know it;
an endless collection of trinkets and cash;
it’s all dead; nature can’t grow it.
We spend a life; preserving and protecting;
in garages, basements, and banks;
its accumulated value; we’re often projecting;
none of it, ever says thanks.
Our greatest treasure is a daughter or son;
a true gift from heaven above;
we were present; when a life was begun;
the amazing gift of love.
Not all of us treasure this precious gift;
becoming concerned of its cost;
abortion is considered an act of thrift;
and that precious gift is lost.
Some believe that such death is a choice;
much like any lifelong decision;
choosing to still the dead child’s voice;
by means of surgical incision.
Multitudes rejoice over every such death;
to many; it’s a banner to live for;
while others are left gasping for breath;
stunned at the reason they died for.
Meanwhile, we spent a life collecting trash;
although we don’t even know it;
an endless collection of trinkets and cash;
it’s all dead; nature can’t grow it.
