You’re Needed Today
We all tend to focus on tomorrow;
even tho it may never come;
all around us; there is pain and sorrow;
and, victory is here to be won.
We sometimes think we are useless;
we may be old and infirm;
we almost never run out of excuses;
when will we ever learn?
If we’re not needed; why are we here;
nothing in life is without reason;
so, how can it be, my time to appear;
time insists it’s my season.
I was born more than seven decades ago;
surely I was here for when needed;
I’ve endured many storms, wind, and snow;
must seventy long years be repeated?
People confront me, most every day;
engulfed in sorrows and fears;
begging for someone to show the way;
unaffected by my passing years.
Often they’re tired of praying and preaching;
to them; a church has no allure;
but the spirit of God is still nearby reaching;
and, you are His chosen cure.
You are the child, God created above;
tomorrow seems so far away;
a smile is the face of God’s perfect love;
and you are needed, today.
