Yet To Be

Most of us think we’ve already arrived;
in the future; we’ve yet to see;
instead; most of us have merely survived;
our future is yet to be.

Few conceive thoughts of becoming dead;
most plan for a future life;
oblivious to all future sorrows, ahead;
becoming husband or wife.

Year after year; we follow our own plan;
tho destiny has our eye;
we often ignore how all things began;
tho mindful that all must die.

Life has become another game that we play;
some destined to win; others to lose;
looking ahead; while ignoring yesterday;
the future is still ours to choose.

Many thank God for who they’ve become;
blind; and unwilling to see;
that person they are, will soon succumb;
beyond it; is yet to be.

Many live as though their lives will go on;
throughout all eternity;
while people they love; die; and are gone;
they contemplate destiny.

As we grow older; life seems so short;
and we realize it soon will be done;
the wise, among us, joyfully retort:
the best is yet to come.
