Why Me ?
We tend to look back on our past with disdain;
it seems we only focus on unhappiness;
what is it; that causes most people to complain;
their life brought sorrow, pain, and duress.
Our mind has a mystical rear view mirror;
that often spends its time looking back;
while the Master assures we need not fear;
our memories are on constant attack.
Tho other’s sorrows, are in the corner of our eye;
we’ve become anesthetized from their pain;
although we feel sad; most of us don’t even cry;
some even look upon them with disdain.
“What is it they’ve done to deserve their fate?”
it’s what we think; but don’t say;
we dare not compare; for we cannot relate;
our own guilt gets in our way.
Still, I remain focused on me, and mine;
to me; we are the ones who matter;
my thoughts serve in the Master’s design;
other thoughts are mere chatter.
Most of us feel that we’re very important;
surely the Master can see;
for, we’re each, ones of honor and deportment;
God can’t get along without me.
And so we look upon our own life and complain;
contemplating our own life’s history;
tho all our sufferings are pretty much the same;
we cry out, in anguish: “Why Me?”
