Why Am I Here ?

Why Am I here ?

Our minds explore the mysteries of life
especially, as the end draws near;
our purpose is clouded in darkest night;
dear Lord; why am I here?

I’ve witnessed the sunsets; so many times;
watched new dawns, come into view;
when will the Master close all the blinds;
and, in death; make me brand new.

I’ve watched the earth’s tides; ebb and flow;
enjoyed hearing the birds sing;
there’s simply no place, I still long to go;
like the dove; I long to take wing.

I’ve watched as both, lovers and friends, depart;
leaving a gaping void behind;
emptiness replaced the love in my heart.
Is that what you had designed?

I’m doing my best; writing truth and love;
but writing is not nearly enough;
I sense your whispers coming from above;
you know this kingdom is tough.

You’ve given me sorrows to make me aware;
I’m not the only one suffering here;
your gifts are an obligation; for others to share;
your love will suffocate all fear.

I feel like a failure; so lost and alone;
so blind, that I just couldn’t see;
I still have purpose; and can’t come home;
I’m still here; cause it’s not about me.
