Who controls the floodgates of tears;
seeking to stem their rising tide;
and who is able to eliminate our fears;
whenever we’ve kept them inside?

Who gave us the sun, to brighten our day;
then hides it, so we can sleep all night?
Who is the one who asks that we pray;
and teaches us all wrong from right?

Who gave us all the energies of love;
and taught us to love each other;
blessed us with sorrows from above;
so we’ll share, with each brother?

Who gives wisdom, when we need its fuel;
and guides us where we must go?
Who grants us death, when we need renewal;
and whispers what we need know?

Who sends life’s waves crashing ashore;
shedding His tears upon dry sand;
then, drawing them back, for an encore;
an ebb and flow that He planned.

Who is the Shepherd, awaiting our return;
His arms extended and opened wide;
the Teacher, from whom, all shall learn;
from whom there’s no need to hide.

The answer to all of these questions, and more,
is the Lord of Creation; the spotless Lamb;
He died to provide all the living, an encore;
for He is our Father; the great I Am.
