Where have you gone, oh loves long last?
How quickly the present becomes the past.
And all those thoughts that I hold dear,
transformed into memories, a sob, a tear.

You left me here for a place called there.
In earth no more is found your lair.
This physical place, no longer your home;
as thought, now freed, elsewhere to roam.

I cannot answer, give reason why,
but I know that thoughts never die.
I sense your presence in the air.
I feel you here; yet know you’re there.

A special realm, a place so dear;
so far away, and yet so near.
A world of healing from all strife,
preparing the soul for another life.

Tis not the end as I once thought,
but merely a ticket to another realm bought.
A turnstile separating time and space
from another world; a wondrous place.

Why can’t I reach you, oh precious one?
You’re with me from morning till day is done.
So close, it seems; yet far away.
Why not return with me to stay?

How can I make the future the past?
What may be done to make love last?
I know you can’t leave, so when life’s through;
you can’t come to me, so I’ll come to you.
