Where Has Love Gone ?

Much of life; I had someone to love;
someone to help me, carry on;
energies raining from heaven, above;
suddenly love is now gone.

Babies, once, were the focus of our love;
we grandly celebrated their birth;
generally acknowledged; gifts from above;
now, many don’t value their worth.

Marriage was considered a sacred event;
two became one; forever;
now; with love no longer heaven sent;
marriage is often a useless endeavor.

I feel all the energies of love, diminished;
an emptiness taking their place;
soon, this lifetime shall be finished;
I can only count on God’s grace.

This life has become a world of competition;
most seeking riches and fame;
winning has become the modern religion;
and life, itself, a mere game.

Love is the trophy that most people seek;
most; receiving; more than giving;
loving your neighbor; has become unique;
though it’s how, all should be living.

It is more blessed to give; than to receive;
as our life continues to drone on;
love becomes magical; when we believe;
so I wonder: “Where has love gone?”
