Wasting Time
We’re oft concerned about wasting time;
but, I have to ask you just, “Why?”
All eternity is but time, sublime;
for time is not scheduled to die.
What happens to time; once it is gone;
do we put it out with the trash?
Somehow, it appears as tho time goes on;
as a part of another one’s stash.
Can we will, some of our time to another;
that they can live a much longer life;
perhaps bequeath it to a favorite brother;
or insure what’s left for my wife?
Time is not a type of commodity;
that we store up and put in the banks;
instead it’s a universal property;
for which we all give God the thanks.
If we fail to use our time wisely;
others will make use of it, instead;
or, to put it more concisely;
time will go on, when we’re dead.
Time will go on; forever remain;
while you’re failing to share and love;
that time, you’ve lost, is another’s gain;
and you’ll return, emptyhanded, above.
Time marches on; without any shoes;
while selfishness fashions your goals;
time doesn’t care; he has nothing to lose;
while you have only your soul.
Loving all others is but a meager price;
to inherit great glory above;
time is still waiting and giving advice;
salvation’s cost is Love.
