Trudging Through Life

Life teaches lessons, when we’re young;
of what we must do; to grow;
lessons are pictures of a life, to come;
I learned; trudging thru snow.

Delivering newspapers, one winter day;
with snow so deep; no bike would go;
I wished that I could be riding a sleigh;
instead of trudging thru 8 inches of snow.

I carried papers in a bag over my shoulder;
in snow; a heavy burden to bear;
I would get a better job when I was older;
and I couldn’t wait till I got there.

A two mile trudge through deep snow;
was a whisper of a life yet to come;
wind blown temperature of zero or below;
I felt like a victor; when I was done.

We have a future, we’re destined to find;
a special role to play in creation;
sorrows and challenges, carefully designed;
hardships lead to elevation.

Life is much like that trudge thru the snow;
wind-blown snow is bitter and cold;
I was so young; twas a long time ago;
that day remains; as I’ve grown old.

Life is meant as a quest for discovery;
enduring whatever we face each day;
death is the Light; that leads to recovery;
when all life’s blizzards, melt away.
