Treacherous Journey

Treacherous Journey

Life’s treacherous journey is a winding path;
a swamp on one side; a cliff on the other;
it almost seems we’re escaping God’s wrath;
searching for truth; we’ve yet to discover.

We began our pilgrimage; a helpless child;
born as a wanderer; lost in the night;
some of us feel loved; the others; reviled;
all of us seeking the safety of light.

Where, we wonder, did our journey begin;
how long is this road we must travel;
truth was our purpose; buried deeply within;
it was like walking barefoot on gravel.

Sometimes, we felt we were nearing success;
the end of our journey, couldn’t be far;
complications on the path, caused us duress;
the path was winding; and terrain, bizarre.

Others on the path, resembled competition;
many often lacked sufficient supplies;
all of us were in search of truth’s definition;
eternal life; we were told was the prize.

Within us all, was a competitive desire;
we each wanted to become our best;
driven by thoughts, meant to inspire;
we believed that life was a test.

Life wasn’t intended as a competition;
it’s a gift, too prescious to earn;
physicality is about creation’s completion;
God sent us all here; to learn.
