Too Many Yesterdays
Too Many Yesterdays
Life is a pilgrimage, lived in seasons;
each, tougher than the one before.
Why do we struggle; what are the reasons;
what is it, we all are living for?
We’re taught to live one day at a time;
a task that most are unable do;
yesterday appears in thoughts, sublime;
as my past keeps coming through.
Most find old age a difficult struggle;
suffering from a worn out heart;
too many memories for a mind to juggle;
we often feel we are falling apart.
We start each day at the break of dawn;
our thoughts, becoming a haze;
try as we might; to just carry on;
there are too many yesterdays.
Each yesterday; was today; at one time;
today will become a yesterday, too;
tomorrow is actually yesterday, sublime;
it hides our troubles; long overdue.
Today is just yesterday; in the making;
it is only a matter of time;
tomorrow; another heart will be braking;
becoming yesterday, by design.
Many try to live one day at a time;
with lives; like a series of plays;
this kingdom of sorrows is evil’s design;
and there are too many yesterdays.
