Too Hard To Swallow

Too Hard To Swallow

Truth requires much wisdom to learn;
lies are much easier to swallow;
subtleties are more difficult to discern;
so, wading thru lies; most follow.

Many are simply afraid of the truth;
for it seems too good to be true;
we spend our lives demanding proof;
that, in death, life becomes new.

Life is the complex, insoluble mystery;
full of emotions; bounded by fear;
each tries to secure their place in history;
full of regret; as death draws near.

We surmise we are creatures of destiny;
tho we don’t know what destiny is;
is there a someone, we’re meant to be;
our life is a puzzle; or a quiz.

We often view life as a fierce competition;
a mountain, that all must climb;
success, leads to pride and ambition;
while the truth is left behind.

Eventually, many succumb to their pride;
willingly accepting man’s rules;
division casts the truth of God aside;
pride is the king of all fools.

God gave us love; that we might know;
and truths that all must follow;
in the end; we shall reap what we sow;
when pride is too hard to swallow.
