Today I Met A Stranger
It was just like any other normal day;
the sun arose; and then set;
I met a woman who passed my way;
a chance meeting, I’d never forget.
Her eyes were like spider webs, cast;
capturing my frozen expression;
staring back, was like seeing my past;
my guilt became my confession.
Her beautiful eyes; splashes of spendor;
passion was leading me on;
I felt her thoughts; warm and tender;
then; suddenly; she was gone.
In truth; she was never really there;
a figment of my own creation;
in fact; she was never really anywhere;
she was just my imagination.
Loneliness had created love for me;
for we’d been apart too long;
perfect strangers; we’d come to be;
living our lives in a song.
Wherever I went; I saw her there;
each time, with a different face;
being alone; only wreaks despair;
making me a hopeless case.
Today I met a stranger on the path;
no one else did I see;
in frustration; I was only able to laugh;
the stranger, I met, was me.
