Thoughts Forgotten

Memory is a most mysterious thing;
can we control what we remember?
How do they differ; reality and dream;
who cares about snow last December?

Memory is a cloud; drifting all about;
thoughts that influence the soul.
Why do such thoughts have any clout;
why do they exert such control?

Sad memories are mysteriously begotten;
destined to live forever;
while deeper wisdom is easily forgotten;
only recalled, whenever.

Why are we unable to control all thought;
like choosing which book to read;
why do we forget things we were taught;
do thoughts only answer to need?

Must we recall thoughts which are sad;
the tragedies of sisters and brothers;
or thoughts of disloyalty; making us mad;
perpetrated by family or others?

Thoughts of death are most bittersweet;
especially, of ones we love most;
the Light draws them to the Master’s feet;
in the presence of the Lord of Hosts.

In death; all of life becomes new;
for each prodigal child begotten;
all see life from a different view;
with all past thoughts forgotten.
