Thorns Of Growth

Thorns Of Growth

In life; most experience sadness and pain;
enduring tragedies and sorrow;
we’re tired of hearing our loss; leads to gain;
all want to see a better tomorrow.

But tomorrow is more than a lifetime away;
it will not come at our beck and call;
we face those troubles; sufficient for today;
all created by the Lord of All.

Every life was meant to face many events;
destiny has given the Master, his oath;
many are preplanned; others, accidents;
all of them, suitable for growth.

We are all flowers, in the Master’s garden
a thorn in the flesh, is pride protection;
we’re the roses; granted the Master’s pardon;
forgiven for our tyranny of rejection.

But none ever grow from their own success;
failures provide the better teachers;
personal experience, must include duress;
nothing is learned; on the bleachers.

How can I survive the intense pain I endure;
cannot I still grow; without it?
The sin of pride has it’s inevitable allure;
I need that thorn; don’t doubt it.

My meager success inflates me with pride;
tho I felt so ashamed of my meekness;
the Master’s words put my thoughts, aside;
God’s power’s made perfect in weekness.
