The Wisdom to Forget
Wisdom comes in all shapes and sizes;
many things, I’ve done; I regret;
wisdom often hides behind disguises;
many things are wise to forget.
We all lack that wisdom to forget;
tending to dwell in its misery;
sinking in quicksand of deep regret;
over our life’s appalling history.
We have forgotten what brought us here;
guilt exposes our every regret;
division and hate are disguised as fear;
only God has wisdom to forget;
Memories are chains of slavery, forged;
we’re prisoners, of our own guilt;
by the gluttony of sin; we’re gorged;
we are God’s flowers, that wilt.
Faith in God is our permanent link;
a connection to our father above;
we and our Master, must be in sync;
to receive his wisdom called love.
God has power to forgive and forget;
omnipotence is the great mystery;
wiping away tears; eliminates regret;
only God can erase past history.
The angel of death has limited powers;
he cannot change what has been;
he holds no authority over God’s flowers;
only love can erase all sin.
