The Weight Of Memories

Many say their troubles weigh heavy on their mind;
as though they’re a physical entity;
it would seem, thoughts are weightless, by design;
since thoughts are a form of divinity.

Thoughts all emanate from a consciousness;
they are its life and breath;
troubled thoughts are the guilt of righteousness;
signals of approaching death.

All of us have guilt for as long as we live;
it demonstrates our lack of perfection;
guilt is the proof of our inability to forgive;
and of our Master’s rejection.

Even our good memories are laced with guilt;
bringing up our thoughts of the past;
under its heat; like the flower; we wilt;
we’re guilty the good didn’t last.

The weight of all memories, keep us down;
the future is in the kingdom above;
such memories only cause us to drown;
tears; dried in the kingdom of love.

The earth is weighted down with our guilt;
to the point that no one can breathe;
in heaven, guilt is shed like a useless quilt;
to lose earth’s gult; we must leave.

Memories carry all our guilt from the past;
on earth, their weight is felt;
the weight of such memories cannot last;
in heaven, the past shall melt.
