The Vultures
The Vultures
Vultures are well known as predators;
as nearly all observers have said;
they often act much like creditors;
and attack before the victim is dead.
These birds of prey are much hated;
tho they usually don’t cause death;
flying high above, they’ve waited;
till their prey takes his last breath.
There are other vultures on two feet;
ones who are unable to fly;
they desire their food to be dead meat;
becoming part of their food supply.
They appreciate food from a slaughterhouse;
already raised and killed by some others;
bought at a store and cooked by their spouse;
initally slaughtered, by sisters and brothers.
Such irony, that we hate vultures that fly;
but excuse those who walk on the ground;
though the former, feast on a carcass nearby;
the latter, kill animals; fenced all around.
But what about the hunter that kills for sport;
returning with food from his attack?
How do we consider him a reasonable sort;
when the animals cannot shoot back?
While vultures of all stripes, exist all around;
death seems to give them a thrill;
seeking out victims wherever they’re found;
for man is especially drawn to the kill.
