The Vicarious Life
The Vicarious Life
For many, their own life isn’t enough;
their thoughts must focus on another;
to imagine they’re made of the right stuff;
they must turn to a sister or brother.
Their own life, to them, has no appeal;
they imagine themselves as a star;
wanting to know, how it would feel;
though even that thought is bizarre.
They read books and watch movies to live;
their personal life doesn’t satisfy;
frustration makes them unable to forgive;
so, on others lives, they rely.
Who can ever be; what they want to be;
their desires are usually too extreme;
following the Master could set them free;
otherwise; they’re left to just dream.
The Master gave each of us a talent;
one hidden beneath the surface;
victories always belong to the valiant;
those who fulfill God’s purpose.
We must not usurp the Father’s will;
to do so; is a sign of rejection;
we’re given a purpose and talent to fulfill;
for the will of God is perfection.
A vicarious life is an affront to the Master;
the life we have, is God’s to share;
by living through others; we court disaster;
using our talents, shows God we care.
