The Ugly Caterpillar

The Master was creator of all living things;
but the caterpillar seems the most ugly;
his appearance was not what beauty brings;
and, no one could say he was cuddly.

To many observers, he was called a worm;
crawling around, appeared his duty;
but, only by death, could he ever confirm;
he was indwelt with wings of beauty.

For when that lowly caterpillar faced death;
he created a coccoon around him to die;
but when we thought he’d had his last breath;
he emerged with beautiful wings to fly.

A great many beings hide their beauty inside;
in fear of the danger that beauty might pose;
and only when emerging from ground, decide;
thorns will protect the beauty of the rose.

Many are those people of outward deception;
for their beauty is far more than skin deep;
and all were mere seeds from their inception;
and, what God has sown, they’ll reap.

Lives are much more than a personal description;
they are souls, created by the Master, above;
each bearing the Master’s words of encryption;
beautiful messages of the Master’s love.

The ugly caterpillar is the man in the womb;
born of the earth; and destined to die;
the butterfly emerging from the coccoon;
is the reborn man, emerging to fly.
