The Thorns Of Weakness

The thorn stands apart as God’s great gift;
pain is the symbol of one’s uniqueness;
although discomfort causes one to be miffed;
it’s God’s gift: the thorn of weakness.

The rose is the symbol of eternal love;
its petals; the perfection of beauty;
first planted in heaven’s garden, above;
its stem carries the thorn of duty.

The thorn inficts pain on all the invaders;
protecting the fragrant petals of love;
seekers of power became the crusaders;
in death; we return on wings of a dove.

Pain means little to the arrogant and strong;
while devasting the humble and weak;
to avoid that pain, many simply go along;
for the rose is the picture of the meek.

Thorns in life are God’s gift called pain;
the symbols of heartaches and sorrow;
the sensation of loss results only in gain;
wars become peace, tomorrow.

It’s only in weakness; that we grow strong;
imbued with the Master’s power;
ignoring the sounds of the siren’s song;
allowing our faith to flower.

The Master loves all those who are weak;
God has known them all from birth;
the thorns of weakness are totally unique;
for the meek shall inherit the earth.
