We often speak of the shadow of death;
but what about the shadow of birth?
Our being born and taking last breath;
both, take place on the earth.

The moment of birth we leave the womb;
having left Eden’s mystical place;
soon after our death, we leave the tomb;
with the hope of God’s saving grace.

We think of life as a long narrow way;
extending from beginning to end.
Starting long ago; and ending one day;
while treating death as a friend.

But death is nothing more than transition;
awareness, transferred; and birth is the same;
reference point changed by juxtaposition;
by a form of sleep, where death gets the blame.

The soul forms an illusion of physical reality;
leaving Eden’s gate; is the same as birth;
the physical illusion has its limit; its finality;
the physical dies, as the soul leaves the earth.

A shadow forms as we transition in birth;
we left His Light in the kingdom above;
death casts a shadow, as we leave this earth,
and are drawn to the Light of His Love.

Life is a journey where love must grow;
a beating heart is what life’s about;
just like the ocean’s ebb and flow;
Love must come in; and then go out.
