The Scourge Of Guilt

Nobody likes to be a target for brothers;
the subject of their ridicule;
wanting only to be loved by all others;
no one wants to be thought a fool.

Many are those invested in pride;
thinking they know everything;
some have guilt, hidden deep inside’
knowing they’re unfit to be king.

Pride is the powerful aphrodisiac;
all have the desire to feel;
it tends to gluttony, rather than a snack;
self-aggrandizement has appeal.

Wisdom soon overcomes all pride;
knowledge overrides zeal;
a scourge of guilt hides inside;
as pride learns death is surreal.

Guilt replaces pride on the throne;
but sin is not fit to rule;
those, without faith, are lost and alone;
wearing the cloak of a fool.

Faith is our personal link to the Master;
he is the only truth and light;
living without him, invites disaster;
only God transcends the night.

Believe it or not; guilt is a blessing;
restraining our pride is it’s role;
bragging is replaced by confessing;
pride becomes love in the soul.
