The Promise Of Tomorrow

The Promise Of Tomorrow

Never put off until tomorrow;
what you can do, today;
on our future; none can borrow;
our time may slip away.

Lives mustn’t be lived on the ‘morrow’
for tomorrow may never come;
on our future; we cannot borrow;
tomorrow; we may succumb.

Tomorrow holds much promise for some;
at least; it’s what they believe;
it is that day that our victories are won;
what destiny has up his sleeve.

Tomorrow’s the day that everything’s right;
the promise we get all our wishes;
that dawn, we expected; turns into night;
and promises become broken dishes.

None should gamble on promised futures;
it doesn’t work that way;
stitches of promise; become broken sutures;
when the devil gets his say.

Tomorrow is the gift; we’ve yet to open;
under the Christmas tree;
we must not live; just wishing and hoping;
for a gift; we may not see.

We must live our life; one day at a time;
today is our day to laugh and cry;
tomorrow is in the hands of the Divine;
tomorrow is the day we die.
