The Power To Forget
As we grow older; the memory fades;
we tend to forget most everything;
but there are memories, the mind saves;
we wish, could somehow take wing.
Many are memories we’d like to remember;
tho there are many others, we regret;
the time I was stranded, in a snow in December;
I’d love to be able to forget.
So many things have been said and done;
by those, lacking in taste;
those careless remarks; we said for fun;
how can such things be erased?
Even forgiveness has a great memory;
we can’t seem to forgive and forget;
we even leave friends awaiting infinity;
recalling little things; they regret.
Others have hated; lied; and cheated
harming someone we love;
we pray their best efforts; be defeated;
by the Father’s angels, above.
There are a few who are unforgivable;
due to how they have ruined my life;
their actions have made my life unlivable;
memories of them; cut like a knife.
The Master commanded, we always forgive;
those things that we most regret;
and yet those bad memories continue to live;
only God has the power to forget;
