The Phoenix
The Phoenix is a bird of ancient mythology;
for some cultures, symbolizing reality;
conflicting with the science of physiology;
becoming a picture of immortality.
The Phoenix was to live five hundred years;
burn itself into ashes; and be reborn;
death was the subject of modern man’s fears;
the Phoenix left no reason to mourn.
Metaphors often lead to a better understanding;
of a creation, swimming in mystery;
it seemed logical; with Omnipotence commanding;
and man’s limited knowledge of history.
I am, but a part, of this metaphorical bird;
created within all of God’s glory;
although you may consider this absurd;
the Scriptures tell a similar story.
God is the Master; the Lord of perfection;
through him; all life was created;
we, are his children; prodigals of rejection;
every molecule of energy is related.
We were created to live; and never die;
an image of God’s love and grace;
the thought of our death, made God cry;
so our Lord, died in our place.
I’m the physical Phoenix; becoming immortal;
a part of God’s powers, I imbue;
in time; I’ll pass through death’s final portal;
and so, my dear one, shall you.
