The Ne’er-Do-Well

Sometimes, by a look, others can tell;
some are declared to be useless;
refered to, by some; a ne’er-do-well;
their efforts, in life, are fruitless.

It seems they can do nothing right;
failure is the clothing, they wear;
doomed to evaporate, into the night;
they’re God’s children of despair.

Abandoned by most all of society;
they don’t know where to begin;
totally lacking any sense of propriety;
they seem to never fit in.

Many become victims of hate and scorn;
feeling they’ve no place to go;
all just wanting to be safe and warm;
while existing in freezing snow.

Each is someone’s sister or brother;
it seems, they don’t have a chance;
they live their lives; like no other.
Who invited them to life’s dance?

We continue to ignore their begging pleas;
maybe we will help them, tomorrow;
those, with faith, are drawn to their knees;
recognizing these children of sorrow.

Only the Master, knows who they are;
God loved all his children, from birth;
those ne’er-do-wells may seem bizarre;
but, the meek shall inherit the earth.
