The Outer Darkness

As I begin yet another new day;
I feel such emptiness, inside;
illusions of life keep fading away;
darkness, can no longer hide.

The sun will soon set upon the earth;
this phase of life will be past;
destiny will return us, to our birth;
in darkness, this world is cast.

Evil has stained this creation of light;
it never has been as it seemed;
man has become a creature of the night;
and earth cannot be redeemed.

Earth was created for heaven’s protection;
the serpent had coveted God’s throne;
rebellion threatened heaven’s perfection;
earth was the prodigal’s new home.

Earth is the metaphor of heaven’s story;
it’s depravity made the Master cry;
the serpent sought to exceed God’s glory;
an act that only a fool would try.

We are now living in earth’s final season;
the old earth shall soon pass away;
the season of death; replaced by reason;
and the dawn of a new day.

The darkness of night remains within;
although such a thought seems odd;
earth is an illusion; it’s Eden’s twin;
within the outer darkness of God.
