The Ones We Love
Why must we hurt the ones we love;
is it an axiom; a rule?
Wisdom comes, from God above;
pain is often caused by a fool.
Why are loved ones the target of such;
why would they be our prey;
could it be that we trust them so much;
we don’t worry about what we say?
We often feel that we need to get even;
tho our enemy is not nearby;
so we unleash our fury on one we believe in;
somebody else must cry.
We are the fools; ruled by our sin;
cast out from heaven above;
still hiding all our evil safely within;
hurting only the people we love.
We think whatever we say, in anger;
will safely fall on deaf ears;
instead; such is our road to danger;
we’re feeding love’s worst fears.
We even ignore our heavenly Father;
because; we know He understands;
when we need to pray; we don’t bother;
and even ignore His commands.
I’ve been deeply hurt by ones that I love;
in sorrow that they cannot see;
we all were created by the Master, above;
to be what God meant us to be.
