The One I Love
I’ve been in love; more than one time;
each time, was special and unique;
my thoughts of love; became sublime;
true love is the energy, all seek.
When I was young; I was very shy;
uncomfortable in my own skin;
though there’s a girl for every guy;
I didn’t know where to begin.
A younger girl became the aggressor;
teaching a bashful boy to kiss;
this young girl, became my professor;
teaching me youthful bliss.
We were too young to be together;
so our parents kept us apart;
our separation was to last forever;
so I left, with a broken heart.
My next love; became my first wife;
till her love had run its course;
losing my two sons, cut like a knife;
when love, ended in divorce.
Then, came a new love of my life;
together, we thrived for a season;
bankruptcy; the culmination of strife;
my destiny seemed the reason.
Her illness, and death; cut like a knife;
leaving me lost, and alone;
God had called home, my second wife;
without love; there is no home.
Now I’m too old for someone to care;
my dreams of love; just rumor;
when I look for love; no one’s there;
God has a great sense of humor.
