A law commands you to love your neighbor;
but exactly who might that be?
One might assume he’d be one in God’s favor;
one very much like me.

But we don’t know who’s in God’s favor;
and so, the question still stands;
we know so little about who He would savor;
about whom, His attention, commands.

We always think we’re first on God’s mind;
we must be on top of His list;
all His critiques are, for others, confined;
they’re lucky He allows they exist.

Still; we’re willing to forgive and forget;
that one who parks in our place;
we even have sympathy and much regret;
when they punch us in the face.

But, we draw the line for deeds unforgivable;
how could we, these neighbors, forgive;
those who have made our lives unlivable;
can we imagine, God, allowing them to live?

To all righteous God fearing crusaders;
please consider your life’s greatest loss.
God’s Son forgave His worst neighbors,
while dying upon their cross.

Once you’re drawn in; is where evil begins;
don’t be fooled by hatred and liars;
hate only the sin; not the neighbor who sins;
for that’s what the Master requires.
