When we consider how a man is measured;
Samson most often comes to mind;
for his physical strength was treasured;
but is that how a man is defined?

King David, from the Bible, lauded;
with a sling, he challenged a giant;
when he won, he was richly applauded;
for he was strong, and boldly defiant.

Both of these men had a weakness, inside;
in God’s power they did many good things;
and yet both were puffed up with pride;
and missed out on the joy, humility brings.

But God seems to have a different view;
in the ways that he measures a man;
for in weakness,  God’s love, imbue;
enabling him to do what God can.

God’s Love totally saturates man’s being;
giving great power very deep, inside;
a power surpassing the eyes in seeing;
with a Love we’re unable to hide.

This Love then flows like a raging river;
demanding to be shared, and come out;
our tears are gifts, from the perfect giver;
when shed; they’re what Love is about.

Some men are timid; want to hold Love in;
not realizing their need to share;
only when tears flow, can real Love begin;
for real power comes when we care.

Each may always do all they can;
having strength in spite of their fears;
the real truth of the measure of a man;
is his power to not hold back tears.
