The Joke Is On Me

When I was young, I was among believers;
I sought God to come into my life;
a world, around me; filled with deceivers;
a kingdom divided, by hate, and strife.

I felt the tug, that came from the Master;
there was something special I was to be;
I couldn’t imagine becoming a pastor;
leading a church; it just wasn’t me.

And so I set forth to write my life’s book;
a university was a part of my journey;
I walked a winding road; each step, I took;
at first, intending to be an attorney;

Circumstance and choice led me a new way;
life was all about making a sale;
success seemed to be bringing a new day;
till circumstance caused me to fail.

It seems I’ve lived many lifetimes, in one;
without a true sense of purpose;
my consciousness returning to where, begun;
my manifest destiny starting to surface.

Tho knew I had a gift for communication;
I never expected to use poetry as a tool;
I found it to be a form of word sublimation;
transforming me into a poetic fool.

God uses fools to send out His love;
from beginning, it was meant to be;
the Master is smiling, in heaven above;
for the joke is entirely on me.
