The Janitor
The Janitor
Most are concerned about family lineage;
conceited and puffed up with pride;
some even supply a false public image;
with the truth hidden inside.
They strut about; holding vacuous titles;
impressing others; their goal;
pretending to stand far above all rivals;
their lies, poison the soul.
Such are the victims of endless pride;
ashamed to tell others, who they are;
shamelessly boasting; casting others aside;
proclaiming that they will go far.
It all begins with that first white lie;
bringing deception to the fore;
no longer, in truth, can they abide;
a first lie, leads to more.
Many enjoy strangers’ misconceptions;
they love to be praised by their peers;
absorbing with joy; those perceptions;
allowing truths to remain in arrears.
Unfortunately, for them; truth arises;
filling them with guilt and remorse;
truth’s sudden sunrise; brings surprises;
from the mouth of a child; of course.
The old man was basking in false glory;
others thinking, he must be a senator;
when a little child told the rest of the story;
I was just helped by the janitor.
